Samanvay 2010, the annual National Level Business fest organized by the Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras was inaugurated on Friday by Mr. K. Ananth Krishnan, Chief Technology Officer of Tata Consultancy Services. In his address, Mr. Ananth Krishnan talked at length about the emerging opportunities in the fields of technology and management. He also emphasised the need for the human side of management, collaboration among CFOs and disruptive innovation.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Harish Damodaran, Senior Assistant Editor of The Hindu - Business Line threw light into the history of businesses and business communities in India. The inauguration was followed by a panel discussion on Public Private Partnerships, moderated by Mr Harish Damodaran, and attended by Mr Sandeep Saxena IAS - MD TNMSC, Mr T Ramaswamy-DGM Indian Bank, Mr P Santhanam-MD Hindustan Motors and Mr V Sivakumar-Director, PCRA.
Every year, Samanvay brings together the best brains from the top business schools all over the country, and experienced personalities from corporates, academia, media etc on to a single platform. The business fest, now into its sixth year, acts as a forum for management students across the country to showcase their managerial skills and also focuses on the contemporary issues faced by Indian businesses and economy. The theme for this year’s edition is "colours", signifying the different hues and shades of management like Finance, Operations and Marketing. Around 50 management institutions across the country are expected to participate in the various events over the weekend.
Apart from various management competitions, Samanvay also hosts a unique outdoor competitive event in the lush green campus, which puts teams from the corporate world to compete against each other in the forest area and lake precincts of IIT Madras. The 3 three day business festival will end on Sunday evening.
